Graduate learning design · Academic project in progress
Project Launch Lab.
Turning curiosity into a meaningful project in the AI age.
An instructional design experience for high-school learners exploring how a compelling interest becomes a focused, feasible, learner-directed project. The foundational Discover & Define module was developed in LDT 555. The next module and complete LMS-hosted course remain under development in LDT 560.
Current status: developed foundation + continuing Capstone, not a deployed or evaluated school program
01 / Learner problem
A spark of curiosity is not yet a project.
A learner may have an interesting idea without a way to test whether it matters to them, fits their circumstances, or can produce something meaningful. This design makes the early choices explicit rather than asking learners to commit prematurely to a large, fixed outcome.
02 / Course architecture
Discover and define. Then plan and launch.
01
Discover
Explore an interest or question worth pursuing.
02
Define
Evaluate meaning, doability, and focus before committing.
03
Plan
Develop a manageable plan and select useful supports. Module design in progress.
04
Launch
Begin the project, collect evidence, seek feedback, and revise. Module design in progress.
The four labels summarize a planned two-module learning progression, not four independent completed course modules. The second half remains provisional pending actual LDT 560 requirements.
03 / Existing learning artifacts
The foundation contains more than a course outline.
Course architecture and learning outcomes
Documented LDT 555 instructional planning for Discover & Define.
Microlearning and explanatory media
Rise, 7taps, and audio/video components developed during academic coursework; live authoring access and complete exports still need verification.
Project Launch Coach concept
An AI-assisted coaching flow with recovered design documents and a native three-node authoring graph; runtime behavior has not been certified.
Project Launch Gauntlet
A five-case exploratory game prototype designed around Meaning, Doability, and Focus, with preserved source files. The deployed five-case visitor flow passed browser QA on October 23, 2026; learner testing and educational impact evaluation remain outstanding.
Try the Project Launch Gauntlet prototype
The five-case game is a separate LDT 555 prototype designed to help learners examine project ideas through meaning, doability, and focus. Its source commit and production deployment have been matched; this is not a claim of student testing, educational effectiveness, or a complete LDT 560 course.
Open interactive game prototype ↗External prototype. Vercel deployment verified READY; interactive game flow passed the October 23 preview QA. No student-learning outcomes are claimed.
04 / Design decisions and evidence
Make the learner's decisions observable.
The design emphasizes structured exploration rather than fixed occupational selection or AI-generated answers. Early activities ask learners to evaluate meaning, doability, and focus; later work is intended to connect plans, actions, feedback, and tangible artifacts. The goal is learner agency supported by clearer evidence and useful scaffolding.
The recovered source archive includes design documents, portions of published learning media, game code, and final-course documentation. Those establish what was created, not whether the experience improved learner outcomes. No student pilot, independent impact evaluation, or completed LDT 560 online course is claimed here.
05 / Next iteration
Finish the two-module course. Then evaluate the experience.
Next steps are to align activities and assessments to confirmed LDT 560 requirements, verify media and LMS placement, test accessibility and navigation, and establish an appropriate learner-feedback process before making stronger claims. The portfolio case will be updated as verified work is completed.
